My name is Erin Dooley and I am so excited to be at Pioneer Path with your children and this dedicated staff! Should you have questions or concerns, please feel free to call or email me.
I am sure this will be another exciting year. The entire staff at Pioneer Path is looking forward to working with you, as partners, in your child's education. We have worked hard over the summer making improvements to our building, as well as looking at the curriculum and instruction we provide to our students. We are confident we will deliver an exceptional year to you and your children. Our focus this year will be getting comfortable with a more technology. As a new Google Apps For Education (GAFE) school, your children will have access to Chromebooks daily. This year, our students will be 1:1! This means every student will have a device to use daily. Teachers will integrate them with our math and reading curriculum aligned to the Common Core Standards. We are excited to continue differentiating instruction to meet all of the students' needs mastering the Common Core Standards. Teachers have aligned the curriculum to meet the demands of the Common Core and are integrating our Reading and Math programs. The standards can be found on the Illinois State Board website if you wish to view them. The latest addition to our curriculum is our new Science Resource which is aligned to the NGSS philosophies and teaching practices.
As always, good communication is an important aspect of education. Students and parents should feel free to come to the office with questions, problems, and/or concerns. Be sure to read the "Thursday Note" as well as newsletters from your child's teacher to be aware of weekly updates. You can also check the district website www.csd17.org for district information. Our school is now on social media, "Like" our Facebook page and "Follow" our Twitter feed.
In order for all of us to live and work peacefully, we need to set some guidelines to follow. The District Handbook is online this year, but you will receive the Pioneer Path Supplement from your child's teacher. Please be sure to become familiar with the rules and procedures included in those handbooks. Make sure to pay special attention to our classroom party policy and dress code. Also, bus routes change every year.
We are all looking forward to another great year and encourage you to be involved in your child's education as we all work together to "Build World Class Thinkers."
