Channahon School District 17 is currently accepting applications to fill a Board vacancy resulting from the resignation of Board Member Brandt Compton due to a change of address outside of the boundaries of Channahon School District 17. If interested in applying for this vacancy, please answer the questions below. Applications may also be obtained at 24949 S. Tryon Street. Completed applications must be submitted by 3:30pm on October 9, 2024.
The individual selected will serve on the School Board from the date of appointment until the seat is filled in May, 2025. Applicants should make themselves familiar with the Board’s policies regarding general duties of a Board and a Board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, ethics and gift ban. All Board policies are available online at www.csd17.org.
All applicants for the Board vacancy must:
Be a United States citizen
Be at least 18 years of age
Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment
Be a registered voter
Not be a child sex offender
Not hold another incompatible public office
Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District
Not be a school trustee
Not hold certain types of prohibited State or federal employment
