It is every
child’s right to learn to his/her full
potential and the staff of Galloway School is
dedicated to fulfilling this right. We believe
that children learn in a situation where love
and understanding are coupled with mutual
respect – students for adults, adults for
students. Freedom must be present within the
confines of a structure that allows protection
for the rights of all individuals. Children
need to know what they can and cannot do and
that they will be treated fairly, equally, and
consistently. Complete freedom only promotes
chaos and does not present a true picture of
our world. Our ultimate objective in education
is effective citizenship.

On behalf of the staff at N.B. Galloway School, I am thrilled to welcome you to the 2014-2015 school year! The entire staff at N.B. Galloway School is looking forward to working with you, as partners, in your child’s education. As always, it has been a busy summer and the custodial staff has been hard at work to make sure our building is ready for students. We take great pride in our building and are grateful to our custodial staff for their dedication.
We wish to welcome the CAB program to Galloway School. The CAB program was established for the purpose of providing a safe and therapeutic environment for students who require more intensive assistance with communication and adaptive behavior skills. Galloway will house both the Early Childhood program as well as the Primary program. Although this program is housed here at Galloway school, SOWIC is the administrative agent. Should you have questions about this program or the services they provide, please contact SOWIC at 815-741-7777.
As many of you know, last year we piloted two reading programs in order to determine which one would be adopted and fully implemented in the 2014-2015 school year. After collecting student growth data and communicating with classroom teachers, it was recommended that the Board of Education approve the adoption of McGraw Hill Reading Wonders. We are very excited to have this program implemented in all classrooms k-2 and expect to continue to see our students reading ability climb.
Please join us in welcoming the following staff to our N.B. Galloway family.

This year I am sending my first child off to college. This milestone has reminded me how important a child’s educational experiences are in preparing them for their future. We at Galloway pledge to you that we will do our very best to assist your child in developing the academic, social, emotional and physical skills they need in order to achieve their goals for the future. As always, good communication is an important aspect of education. Students and parents should feel free to come to the office with questions, problems, and/or concerns. Be sure to look for our “Galloway Gazette” newsletter as well as newsletters from your child’s teacher and other communications. You can also check the district website www.channahon.will.k12.il.us, for district information.
In order for all of us to live and work peacefully, we need to set some guidelines to follow. You will receive the district handbook as well as the N.B. Galloway supplement from your child’s teacher. Please be sure to become familiar with the rules and procedures included in those handbooks. The safety and well being of our children is very important and we appreciate your support!
We are all looking forward to another great year and encourage you to be involved in your child’s education as we all work together to “Build World Class Thinkers.”

Principal, N.B. Galloway
